Brave surgeon hides terminal cancer from colleagues - works at hospital till two days to death

Sarah Prince, a surgeon from Belford Hospital of Fort William, Scotland, concealed her terminal diagnosis of cancer from her colleagues and kept working till the very end.  The forty-three-year-old doctor got to know about her terminal bile duct cancer in September 2016. She chose to ignore it and decided to lead a normal life for the next two months, till her death on 19th of November, reports The Daily Record.   She reportedly attended to her duties til two days before she died.

She reportedly attended to her duties til two days before she died.  

Her husband, Dr Patrick Byrne decided to share her inspiring story on Facebook and pay a tribute to her.

He wrote that his wife, a very caring and intelligent person, decided to keep her illness to herself as she wanted to live her last moments like any other normal person would.

He urged friends and family not to grieve her demise, but to think of the happy times they had spent together.  

A junior doctor working in the same hospital described Sarah as “a brilliant surgeon and an inspiration.” 

NHS highland said that the contribution of Sarah to healthcare in Lochaber has been “immense”.
