Stubborn Akhilesh Yadav refused to meet uncle Shivpal who came home with peace message from Mulayam
Akhilesh Yadav’s hardline stance may have contributed to dispute within Samajawadi party going to the wire.
After the SP leaders declared Akhilesh as the national president of the party, his father Mulayam sent a peace message through his brother Shivpal.
The Telegraph reports that Shivpal went to CM’s official residence carrying the message. But an adamant Akhilesh even refused to meet him.
The peace message reportedly came with two conditions both of which were not acceptable to him: a key party post for Shivpal Yadav and continued Rajya Sabha membership for Amar Singh.
The newspaper quoted a party source saying Netaji sent Shivpal with the message that Akhilesh accept him as the party's national general secretary.
“But the chief minister refused to see his uncle," the source added.
Mulayam's younger brothers Abhay Ram and Rajpal stepped in to mediate and met both the father and the son for discussions.
Abhay Ram reportedly told Mulayam not to expect Akhilesh to bend.
"Your son is not as flexible as you are. So don't expect him to change his decisions," Abhay Ram reportedly told Mulayam pointing at his own famous stubborn behaviour.
