Dhule doctor in ICU with grievous injuries after patient’s kin thrash him (video)
A resident doctor at Goverment Medical College in Dhule, Maharashtra, has been admitted in ICU after he was beaten up by relatives of a patient.
The doctor, an orthopaedic resident, has suffered head injury, orbital fracture, and multiple injuries on abdomen and chest.
A media report notes that he may have lost vision in an eye as well.
The CCTV footage of the hospital shows about 20 relatives of a patient beating him with hands and rods. They throw him on a hospital bed and kick him in the face.
DNA reports that the patient was brought in with head injury on Sunday evening. The doctor advised the family to take him to another centre as there was no neurosurgeon on duty at Dhule hospital.
That reportedly enraged the relatives to assault him.
The Maharashtra Association of Resident Doctors (MARD) has decided to protest the incident by wearing black ribbons on Tuesday.
