Yagnesh Parmar, an accounting professional, had unwittingly entered into a nightmare when he attempted to board a packed Borivali-bound local train from Mira Road.

Passengers near the entrance first tried to block him from entering and then verbally abused him. They even threatened him with throwing him off the moving train. A frightened Parmar got down at Dahisar, fearing for his life.

However, in spite of the turmoil, he had managed to take a video of the entire incident. And that video might just have helped him get justice.

Parmar’s video has been shared on Facebook more than 8000 times since last Tuesday. Comments have flooded in, demanding punishment for the hooligans.

Few have noted how extremely overcrowded trains often give rise to frayed commuter tempers in the suburban Mumbai trains.

On the basis of Parmar’s complaint, a forty-year-old man Harish Singh has been arrested, reports Mumbai Mirror.

Senior inspector Mahesh Bagwe of Vasai Government Railway Police said the accused has been charged with section 107 of Criminal Procedure Code for the breach of peace and public disturbance.

He has been released on a bond of Rs. 10000, and a warning of steeper penalty in case of a repeat offence.

Suburban trains are the lifeline of Mumbai, transporting millions of people each days. But complaints of bullying and hooliganism continue to hound the grossly overcrowded facilities.
