A video showing a man trapping an enormous python with just his reflexes and strength has gone viral on Facebook. It has garnered 45 million views in less than 10 days.

The python is atop a cupboard, visibly agitated. As the man moves around it in a semicircle carefully, it tracks his movement and launches at his direction several times, hissing dangerously.

After circling the python a few times, the man goes absolutely still. After a few moments, the python lets down its guard.

Quick as a thunderbolt, the man then grabs its neck without giving it a chance to respond. The python then coils its massive body around him, trying to squash him. But the man manages to successfully fight it off and box it up.

The response to this video has been mixed. While some have commented the man’s speed and strength, many have expressed concern over the reptile’s safety – there are better ways to capture poisonous snakes than to agitate and scare them.

People who apparently know him have commented saying he is a godsend when they face dangerous situations concerning reptiles or when snake bites have to be treated.

Al Arabiya English identifies the man as thirty year old Palestinian Jamal al-Amwassi. He keeps rare snakes and reptiles at his home to study their venom in lab experiments. He also raises other animals like chickens to feed his reptiles.

After years of dealing with all kinds of snakes, he is now an expert- he speaks at schools and colleges as well as trains security personnel on dealing with snake venom.
