ASI makes models remove saffron dupattaas at Taj Mahal – Hindu groups protest (video)
Security officials at Taj mahal made a group of models remove their saffron dupattas Wednesday.
Thirty four models from different countries had arrived for a visit. They had reportedly bught saffron stoles in Mathura which had Jai Shri Ram written over them.
The security personnel at the Taj asked the models to take off their dupattas as they were religious in nature.
A CISF official told The Times of India that ASI had banned all religious symbols inside a protected monument.
The rules were being followed, he said.
Officials escorting the models said they had no problem following the direction and enjoyed the visit.
But several Hindu groups went on protest on Thursday saying their religion had been insulted.
A report in The Hindustan Times said they were also joined by the BJP leaders who demanded action against Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) officials.
They also held demonstrations near the monument to register their protest.
