Coimbatore villagers revive sick elephant - calf stays by her side (video)
A 20-year-old mother elephant recently collapsed due to extreme dehydration in the Palayam forest range, in Coimbatore.
She had come to the place along with her baby looking out for food and water.
The baby was holding on somehow and trying to get the mother back to her feet, when they were spotted.
Forest officials and local villagers nursed the elephant for a day and managed to get her back on feet.
The elephants were given jackfruit, bananas, coconuts besides water.
A JCB was brought in to nudge her to get up.
Throughout the ordeal, the calf stayed by the side of the mother.
South India has not received adequate amount of rain, which has resulted in the animals coming out of forests looking out for food and water.
