A group of tourists recently came across a brutal sight while they were on a trip at the Liwonde National Park in Malawi.

They saw a crocodile grabbing a baby elephant's trunk as the elephant pack was ruminating near a lake.

The adult elephants were taken aback at this and waited for a second before coming to the rescue of the infant elephant. They did manage to take the control and stomp the crocodile finally.

The whole video was recorded by a biomedical scientist from the UK, Alexander Makanga, born in Malawi.

The video has got an overwhelming response with more than one million views on the YouTube, so much so that Makanga is now seriously considering about it as his profession.

Some of the comments made by the YouTubers on the video are:

Good thing for the bigger elephant stepping in. That was intense, I'd imagine an elephant good as dead with a severely injured trunk.

That was a big croc!!! Luckily big Mama came in...that trunk was about to be chopped off!

You are so lucky to see such an epic encounter!

Elephants are AMAZING!  Thanks for this video.
