A village mob lynched three cattle traders near Jamshedpur suspecting them to be child kidnappers.

Police blamed fake child-kidnapping rumours being circulated in Jharkhand for the attack.

A mob of over 100 villagers had intercepted a car carrying Sheikh Naim, 35, Sheikh Sajju, 25, and Sheikh Siraj, 26, Sheikh Halim, 28.

The four men were on their way to Rajnagar in Seraikela-Kharsawan district to buy cattle.

The car managed to speed away but was chased and caught again a few hours later, reports The Telegraph.

The mob beat Naim mercilessly and torched the car while the other three escaped.

They managed to find Sajju and Siraj, who had taken shelter in another village, and beat them up.

The fate of the fourth person, Halim, is not known.

The mob also assaulted three policemen who tried to intervene and torched their jeep.

Another police team took Naim from Daru to a nearby hospital, where he died.

The video below from the incident is graphic. The victim is yet to be identified.

In March last year, two cattle traders had been killed in Latehar in Jharkhand by alleged cow vigilantes.
