RJD Chief Lalu Prasad Yadav would not mind if Priyanka Gandi replaced Sonia Gandhi in the rally he is organizing, but please, no Rahul Gandhi for his event.

The mother of all rallies is said to be planned on August 27th, with the ambitious aim of uniting all anti-BJP political forces.

"If we fail to come together against the BJP, we'll be finished' Lalu Prasad is said to have told the Congress President.

Mamata Banerjee is reported to have already confirmed her participation, and it is likely that other heavy-weight leaders like Mayawati and Mulayam Singh Yadav will join this show of strength of the coalition forces.

But when it came to getting representation from Congress, Lalu is reported to have told Sonia Gandhi on phone that either she or Priyanka Gandhi should definitely attend.

By leaving out Rahul Gandhi, The Telegraph speculates, he is sending a message that he would rather that the Congress Vice President not attend.

The report also links the source of bad blood between the two to the incident when Rahul Gandhi tore the UPA government ordinance to protect convicted lawmakers.

With that, he also took away Lalu's hopes of contesting elections again.

Since then, Lalu Prasad Yadav is said to have never hid his dislike for the younger Gandhi.

From rejecting the proposal that Rahul Gandhi could be the projected as candidate for the PM's position in 2019 to not campaigning with him during the Bihar 2015 elections, Lalu has shown that the fissures between the two men are real and will not disappear.
