A bored patient whiled away his time playing Candy Crush on a mobile phone during a major surgery.

The photo shows a team of orthopaedic surgeons engrossed in fixing his broken bones as he plays. A screen splits his torso and separates the two.

The photo shared by noted blogger and anaesthesiologist Dr Roshan R on Thursday shows how pain-free surgeries have become.

The photo also triggered excited discussion with many asking if it was true.

Dr Roshan said the photo had been taken just last week.

The patient was reportedly bored waiting for the surgery to end. To help him pass time, the anaesthesiologist had given his phone.

Dr Roshan added that there was nothing new in the photo. A few years ago, a kid had broken his high score in Fruit Ninja during an operation, he said.

Dr Roshan blogs at Godyears.
