Monsoons have arrived in all its glory at Faridabad in the National Capital Region and it seems that the city is woefully unprepared to deal with the copious rain.

Uncovered manholes and huge potholes abound in most of the public roads, which are impossible to avoid once the roads are drowned through waterlogging.

A video comprising of the CCTV footage at Sarai Khwaja Bazaar show the risks to lives and limbs that commuters have to grapple with everyday.

The  video records the plight of motorcyclists, cyclists and even a fully occupied auto as they almost overturn in a water covered manhole.

More than three such vehicles toppled at the flooded manhole in the highly populated area within a span of just one hour, from 2 pm to 3 pm on July 11th.

The water takes an hour to drain after each spell if rain, and in that duration, the manholes become veritable death traps.

Some of these manholes are as deep as ten feet, India TV reports.

Thankfully, no major injuries have been reported from the area yet. But the situation was dire enough to claim lives as the civic body continued to ignore the potholes and the open manholes.

Latest reports suggest that the municipality has finally started working on draining the potholes and repairing them, after repeated complaints from the local population.
