Singer Chinmayi has stepped in to defend the recent A R Rahman concert at Wembley.

She says there was  no reason for anyone to protest as 65% of the songs were in Hindi and just 7 to 8 songs were in Tamil.

After the recent concert many fans had claimed they  had walked out as Rahman had performed mostly in Tamil. A few had even demanded refunds.

Chinmayi reminded that the show had a Tamil name, ‘Netru Indru Naalai’.

“When Rahman sir wins two Oscars, he is an Indian, but when he performs 7 to 8 Tamil songs, people get upset,” she was quoted saying by Pink Villa

After the controversy kicked up Rahman’s sister had commented that there was no adverse response from anyone   during the concert.

“Nobody raised anything at that time and I don’t know why this is happening now,” she had told a TV channel.
