With the conviction of Sirsa-based Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim, the sect followed by millions mostly in Haryana and Punjab  may get a new woman head.

Though the dera chief has not anointed a successor Guru Brahmachari Vipasana, 35, is a front runner.

The Hindustan times reports that she is  a ‘nambardar’ that is second-in-command, who takes all important decisions. She is also the only one, who is authorised to act on Ram Rahim’s behalf.

She controls the 250-member management team of whom nearly 150 are women.

Another contender is Honeypreet (35), who has emerged as dera chief’s confidant over the last few years. He introduces her as his daughter and she has also acted in all his films as his lead lady.

She accompanied Ram Rahim to Panchkula court and then to Rohtak jail in the chopper.

If she manages to get his backing, Honeypreet could be a strong rival to Vipasana to run the show.
Or, Ram Rahim may divide responsibility between them to keep the organisation under his control.

The stake are high as the sect owns assets running into thousands of crores.

Ram Rahim has a son and two daughters. But the dera norms stipulate that the heir has to be drawn from outside the family of the present chief.
