Armed guards hired to stop ‘naagin’ from killing man in Shahjahanpur – Rs 5,000 award as well to stall revenge attack

Armed guards have been hired to stop a naagin or a female snake from biting a man, who had killed her mate.   The man had killed the male snake last year when he saw the pair while filling water. He was unable to kill the female snake, which has now sworn to exact revenge, say villagers of Shahjahanpur district in UP.

Armed guards have been hired to stop a naagin or a female snake from biting a man, who had killed her mate. 

The man had killed the male snake last year when he saw the pair while filling water. He was unable to kill the female snake, which has now sworn to exact revenge, say villagers of Shahjahanpur district in UP.

According to the man, the female snake followed him for two kilometres to his home and hangs around all times to kill him. It has bit him four times till now and he has been saved each time by the village doctors, says his family.

The man’s father has offered a reward of 5000 rupees to the person who kills the snake. He has even hired gun-toting guards to protect his son from the snake. 

Many believe that snakes hunt down people who kill their mate. 

The CMO of Shahjhanpur has dismissed the story saying the man was just paranoid as no snake would anyone for 2 kilometres. He says that the snake that bit him might in fact be different, while pointing out that  incidents of snake bites increase durign monsoons.
