A video released by Newsner about the incredible achievement of Jadhav Payeng is doing the rounds on Twitter.

Jadav grew up in Majuli Island, whch was once a flourishing wildlife oasis,

it had now lost all its greenery and had gone barren due to people cutting down the trees. Jadhav had seen the transformation with his own eyes and in 1979 he decided to do something about it. He walked to a barren spot in the landscape and planted a tree. He repeated the same routine for the next 37 years!

His effort has visibly paid off as now the once barren land has become a thriving forest of about 1359 acres! And with the forest, the animals returned too. His forest now consists of over 115 elephants along with tigers, rhinos and deer.

This incredible act shows that even the smallest of efforts can result in an unimaginable transformation for the best.
