Times Now managing editor Navika Kumar has been slammed widely for an insensitive remark during the prime time News Hour show on Friday night.

Hosting a show on the Vande Mataram controversy, she told a panellist to focus on the ‘real issue’ Vande Mataram and not digress into ‘hospital deaths’.

“The debate is on Vande Matram, you are bringing up this issue because you are running away from ‘real’ issue,” she said.

On Friday about 30 children died in a Gorakhpur hospital due to lack of oxygen supply.

But several TV channels opted to ignore it in their prime time programming and focus on other issues ranging from Siachen to Vande Mataram.

News Hour chose to debate Yogi Adityanath government's order to madrassas across Uttar Pradesh to celebrate Independence Day.
